Grab your Dramamine, because it’s time to take a trip to outer space with Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar.” Empire magazine has a slew of juicy new photos from the mysterious sci-fi flick, and they promise an awesome experience in the most literal meaning of the word.
First, you’ve got a look at life back on Earth with Murph (Jessica Chastain) and Tom (Casey Affleck). Things are looking pretty darn bleak on our little planet, which is why Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), Brand (Anne Hathaway), and Romilly (David Gyasi) agree to suit up and head out into outer space to search for, well, who knows? This is a Christopher Nolan flick, after all, which means viewers will be delightfully in the dark when “Interstellar” opens this November. Part of the fun is the mystery - for the viewers, anyway. Not so much for the characters in Nolan’s epic drama.
“This is the grandest adventure I think any of us will ever see on film… This is the biggest film I’ve ever been a part of. This is one of the biggest films anyone’s ever been a part of,” McConaughey told Empire with typical modesty. Meanwhile, Hathaway said, “I am so excited for the world to receive this film, because there’s going to be a new conversation I believe will happen because of it… It’s not a dry, science-based film. It has a pulse. It’s got blood in its veins.”
Nolan divulged a few tidbits, too. “It’s a very classically constructed movie, but the freshness of the narrative elements really enhance it. I liken it to the blockbusters I grew up with as a kid, family films in the best sense: edgy, incisive, challenging.” He added, “It’s almost a mirror image of ‘Inception.’ It expands out in the way ‘Inception’ contracts inwards.”
“Interstellar” lands in theaters on November 7.
